  Baby Monitors

Clients will occasionally report hearing unexplained sounds through their baby monitors. Adult voices, child voices, singing, or crying, laughing, and odd sounds the sounds commonly heard. Are these mysterious sounds signs that your home is haunted?

Quite a few reports of paranormal activity include children's toys or electronic devices that turn on and off by themselves, makes noises at unexpected moments, and other quirky behavior. Are these really signs of a "haunting?"

Baby monitors work on just a few frequencies. They pick up on each other all the time. One house can pick up another house's baby monitors. Worse yet, baby monitors can also pick up on wireless/cordless house phones at a nearby home. This is the reason that most baby monitors provide you with a switch and two frequencies, so that if you are picking up on other monitors or nearby phones, you can try the 2nd frequency and see if its clear.

When Dana and I lived at another house, and we had a baby monitor...we once picked up on a phone call our neighbor was making to her boyfriend...a phone call with some "dirty talk" involved. We turned off the monitor as soon as we realized what was happening (well, O.K., maybe we listened for a little bit), but we were already scarred for life by what we heard. LOL.

So, this client may not want to hear this...or perhaps she doesn't realize how open baby monitors are to picking up frequencies from nearby houses, but I'll need to tell her.-- Mark Stinson,  Ghost Vigil Investigations
