*note*  We have noticed an abundance of new websites lately by new, less experienced paranormal groups.  While we at NEARPS commend these groups and encourage others to join the field,  we also would like to advise the general public.  Many of these groups, both in and out of the NE AR and SE MO areas are posting evidence as paranormal when many times what they are posting is simply a speck of dust that creates an orb in the camera lens.  Others are taking pictures of cigarette smoke and calling it "ectoplasm" or paranormal "mist".  In short, many are calling anything and everything paranormal just to have things to show on a website.  I recently ran across a photo of a bright, white orb that was simply a photo taken in the rain and the water droplets caused the orb.  You can usually tell as orbs caused by falling rain will be bright white or blue and have a tail that makes it look like the orb had upward movement, either straight up or diagonally. This is why we have adopted a "No Orb" policy in that we refuse to present photographs of orbs as evidence of any kind. Go ahead and check it out, you will find no photographs of orbs on this website.  The subject of orbs is far to controversial to even consider.  Posting these things as evidence does not help the cause of paranormal groups who are serious about the research and serious about helping people.

This is a call to other paranormal groups, please stop posting things like this as evidence!!!  This is deceiving to the public as well as a hit to your credibility if a reputable group were to analyze and debunk it.

This is also a call to the general public to take what you see on some sites with a big grain of salt.

Even our evidence is not concrete, we know this, but we will tell you that our team takes every possible step to recreate any photo anomaly and try to determine if the anomaly COULD be caused by natural means before even considering labeling it as paranormal.  We urge other teams to do the same and be certain of the conditions under which the photo is taken.  This message is posted here with the best interests of ALL paranormal groups in mind, not just ours and not intended to flame, bash, or discredit anyone.  Merely to advise and offer help to any group, if you need help analyzing your evidence, you may email it at any time to nearps@gmail.com and we will be more than happy to take a look at it and give you our honest opinion on it. We have over 30 years of combined experience in this field and have pretty much "seen it all".  It simply would not be right for us to not offer the benefit of said experience to newer, less experienced groups.
